Welcome to the Gold Coast! NextEd is thrilled to launch our brand new campus this week in the bustling city of Southport. The campus features a spacious layout with 4 floors and 23 classrooms over 2065 sqm. We will be training domestic and internationals students on campus via our RTO's: Greenwich College and Celtic Training. Alongside the flash new classrooms, our new campus features state of the art commercial kitchens and health care labs for our hospitality and aged care courses. With capacity for more than 850 students at any given time, we are able to train thousands of students each week. Staff and students are thrilled with the upgrade, and our first students of campus love it! Congratulations to the opps team for bringing this vision to life! Shin Shimizu, Shauna Crabbe

Continuing my review of 2023 features, we come to September, and a post I wrote for A Life Overseas called "What does the research say about TCKs attending boarding school?" In it I went through data from my research at TCK Training specific to TCKs who attended boarding school, and made four key points which led to a nuanced conclusion - that as every family situation is different, there is no absolute right or wrong education choice. Knowing what really matters for TCKs and how this impacts education choice is much more important! Here's a taste: "These high rates of extreme mobility among boarding school students are not surprising, but the correlation of high mobility with high ACE scores means we need to take these transitions very seriously. An additional impact of boarding school mobility is attachment between parent and child. When boarding school is keeping parent and child apart for too long, it risks damaging important family bonds... When a TCK is deeply impacted by transition – whether they are constantly moving or whether they are seeing people move in and out constantly – boarding school can be an option to offer some relational stability. For TCKs living in remote areas, boarding school can offer the opportunity to make friends in ‘real life’ rather than over a screen. This is equally true for mentor-figures, which is another essential part of a well-rounded childhood... Another thing our research shows is that every schooling type comes with some level of risk. There is no perfect choice. Instead, make the best decision for your family — knowing that the best choice for your family may be different to the best choice for another family." Texas College Bridge Summit: Collaborating to Increase College Readiness My DMC Colleagues and I attended the first Texas College Bridge statewide conference, hosted by Region 10 in Dallas. It was attended by administrators, instructors, counselors, technologists, and support staff from participating ISDs and partner colleges and universities. This one-day event featured Texas College Bridge success stories and implementation best practices, from effective program recruitment to using real-time data to increase program completion. Additionally, the convening spotlighted how secondary-postsecondary partnerships are improving educational equity and student outcomes. 💡What are you doing (or your institution) to improve student success and educational equity? How are you preparing our youth and young adults for the future? #drtammyfrancis #educator #professor #studentsuccess #collegeandcareerreadiness #collegecareermilitaryreadiness #developmentaleducation #collegepreparation #dmc #partnerships #collaborations
